We are learning to RETELL stories.

This week our students are learning to retell stories.
Famous Fairy Tales chosen -
1)  "The Three Little Pigs"
2)  "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"

The students are having fun creating puppets, using animals from around the room, and writing signs to present their retells.

The Learning Goal to retell a story is a 3 step process.

1.  Students will talk about the story.
2.  Students will talk about who was in the story and what happened in the story.
3.  Students will start at the beginning and tell what happened in the story.

Curriculum Expectations:
Language    2.9 retell stories, in proper sequence, that have been read by and with the Early Years   team, using pictures in the book and or props

Language     2.4 respond to a variety of materials read aloud to them

Language     1.10 orally retell simple events and simple familiar stories in proper sequence

Ideas for talking about a book at home:

  • Favourite part
  • Sequence the story (beginning, middle and end)

  • Have a puppet show
  • Mold the characters out of play dough
  • Build the setting with Lego
