The Kissing Hand

On Friday, we read the story. "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn.  This classic book is for children starting school or separating from their parents for the first time.

The Kissing hand

Many of our new students were experiencing difficulty saying goodbye to their parents and missing their family throughout the day.  We thought this story would help the transition.    The story is about a raccoon, Chester starting school in the forest for the first time.   To help ease Chester's fears, Mrs. Raccoon shares a family secret called the Kissing Hand to give him the reassurance of her love any time his world feels a little scary.

After reading the story to the children, the students were excited to play and learn with their own 'Chester'.  We were so happy to see the creativity and literacy taking place!!!

Don't forget to kiss your child's palm of their left hand to share Chester's family tradition.
